Companion Animal Socializing Volunteers

Here kitty kitty! Pets Niagara Companion Animal Socializing Volunteers provide essential playtime, brushing, TLC, cage and run maintenance, social interaction, and even training for our in-house pets to keep them happy and healthy during their stay whether they are cats, dogs, rabbits or other small pets. All of our in-house companion animals are given a rating system from Level 1 to Level 5 to designate how easy they are to handle or how experienced a volunteer must be in order to interact with that particular animal.

Cat, rabbit and small animal volunteers start out as "cuddlers" able to socialize with our easy-to-handle, low maintenance pets. Cat volunteers may also train to work with our more challenging cats which require more experienced handling skills.

Dog volunteers start out as "companions" able to socialize, play with and walk our easy-to-handle, low maintenance pooches. Dog volunteers may also train to work with our more challenging dogs which require more experienced handling skills and/or physical strength.
