All of our volunteer positions are extremely important in making a difference in a companion animal's life in helping to see that animal in a forever home. All of our volunteers are sincerely appreciated for their hard work throughout each year. However, there is one volunteer post that rewards the volunteer immediately with a sense of a "job well done" and making a huge difference to a companion animal's successful outcome. That is the post of Program Placement Coordinator. Watching the transition of a pet as he or she comes into Pets Niagara umbrella feeling lost, afraid and alone to a pet that is filled with happiness and confidence as he or she successfully passes through the right program for him or her to a home for life will truly fill your heart with happiness.
The Program Placement Coordinator is responsible for photography of all incoming animals, writing descriptions of all animals based on medical and personality of animals for use on our website, social media and marketing materials, phone and/or mailings; with input from staff and veterinarians opinions and health workup will see that all incoming animals are placed in appropriate Pets Niagara programs such as for adoption, or placement in one of our sanctuary programs or if after in Pets Niagara care for some time needs to be placed into an alternate program; will have responsibility for uploading, updating and maintaining Pets Niagara spaces on PetFinder.com and through Pet Point on Petango.com, Kijiji.ca, and other similar independent mass pet adoption websites. Will also have responsibility for uploading, updating and maintaining Pets Niagara Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter accounts with new photographs and descriptions of all animals currently in our care regardless of program of care.
To become a successful candidate for the Program Placement Coordinator position you must possess strong photography and computer skills, including file management and troubleshooting. Video production and graphic design skills would be a plus but are not necessarily required. Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. You must be friendly, work well with others in working toward the goal of placing all incoming and current Pets Niagara companion animals in their forever home. You must also possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as excellent organizational and time-management skills. You must be detail oriented, with a positive and energetic attitude and have the ability to work as a team member as well as a self-starter as much of the volunteer duty can be performed from your home. All Program Placement Coordinators are required to adhere to Pets Niagara brand guidelines.
Please note that allergic or other medical conditions which would be aggravated when working around animals or while performing volunteer duties may be a disqualification.
Additional qualifications for all of our volunteer positions include:
* Successful volunteer applicants who are under the age of 16 years will be assigned light duties only commensurate with their physical and mental ability and skills. Volunteers under the age of 16 must have an adult attend their volunteer sessions with them and remain throughout the whole course of the volunteer's shift. The parents and/or guardians of volunteers under the age of 18 years will be required to sign any medical liability waiver and release forms as well as the Confidentiality Agreement on behalf of the volunteer and themselves. The provisions for and requirements of volunteers under the age of 18 years may be amended from time-to-time without notice.
It is expected that every volunteer of Pets Niagara supports its mission and values. Pets Niagara reserves the right to modify, change or add to the duties of these volunteer descriptions at any time.
