Friends joining around a fire is a symbol of friendship. This piece portrays the ancient Mayan depiction of the "Circle of Friends" or sometimes called a "Spirit Circle." This is one of the largest of its kind in circulation, at a very impressive 10" inches diameter and 6" inches height with 9 human figures with interlocked arms, and holds candles up to 3" inches diameter. The interlocked arms of the figures are meant to be symbolic of the bond shared between close friends. The clay candle holders that have made it to modern times are based on ancient groups celebrating around actual bonfires; dancing and sharing stories of each other's good qualities and becoming closer to one another.

The Mayan Indian Legend says that at the end of the evening, friends would gather around a bonfire and share their hearts and speak of the good qualities of each other and remember times shared. As the embers faded, their friendship was said to be sealed anew, bringing them closer together. As you sit with the candle lit in the middle of your "Circle of Friends", it will surround and embrace all who sit with you and bring good luck to those who stay together.
Due to the nature of hand crafting, each piece is unique and beautiful, variations and imperfections are to be expected and are normal. This only adds to the uniqueness of each piece, each piece is a individual work of art.
